RE: Sagelight is Back
Rob, I happily discovered by chance that you and Sagelight are back and I'm looking forward to v.5

I have a question which is really asking you a favor. I miss two features that you've removed from the newest release of v.4:

1) The ability to activate a reinstallation via the defunct server (or is there an easy patch you could issue to remove the need for activation?)
and
2) The previous setting that showed a dedicated GAMMA slider.

Thank you for breathing new life into a great piece of software and eagerly awaiting v.5.

In other threads, I explain why the site was down, where Sagelight is right now, and plans for its future.

The short story is that I was dealing with an illness in the family and predatory family members taking advantage of it,

Sagelight version 4 is now free. It doesn't make sense sell it until I release the next version, and it gives me a chance to try out the idea of supporting a free version through donations.

I am 70% complete with Version 5, which has many new things to it, including a revamped UI that I am very excited out.

Anyway, I am glad to be back, and check out the other messages I posted for the longer explanation of everything.

Hi Rob, Glad you are back. Best of luck. Could you make the pages that you want users to input info more secure?

Hello Rob, Glad to see you back. I purchased Sagelight a long time ago. I've always liked the program and really glad you are moving forward with V-5. I just sent you a donation, hope it helps. Good luck for the future.

I am writing to report an apparent bug in the free version (v.4) which you recently made available. I'm running Win 8.1 with all updates. When I open a JPG image file in the Quick Edit Mode, the program crashes immediately. When I open a RAW image it opens fine in the Kayak Editor and the program does not crash. When I close the RAW file I am still in Kayak mode. If I try to reopen the same JPG in Kayak mode, the program does not crash. The program opens by default in the Quick Edit Mode so the only way for me to open a JPG without a crash is to first load a RAW image, close it and then open the JPG in Kayak mode. I never had this issue on this same machine with the old, paid version. If I may offer any additional info, please let me know.
Thanks,
D.C.

This is still happening so possibly something broke between the paid and free versions of 4.4h - I can't register the paid 4.4h version on my new machine - is there a "switch" which can be used to force Sagelight to open in Kayak mode (or is there a fix coming)?

RE: Sagelight is Back
Rob,

Very happy to see you and Sagelight is back. I was one of your very early customer and has always been appreciative of your great support. It remain my main editor until I saw no new development. I moved to other editors such as DxO Photolab (great but costly) and Affinity Photo (affordable but hard to use).

My current version of Sagelight is 4.4h. Is there any reason to download your current v4. Still like using Sagelight but locks up on Fuji RAF raw files. It is now only useful with JPG files.

Hoping for your continued success.

Thanks, I was wondering what everyone was using instead of Sagelight these days.

I'm still able to use Sagelight with my recent Fujifilm raw files. But I have to make an initial first step -- I use Adobe Digital Negative Converter to convert the RAF files to DNG files. Then Sagelight can open the DNG files.
