如果用點數計算，就要將自己手上所有牌嘅點數相加，然後再乘以一定嘅倍數。例如：如果自己手上有中中中、發發發、白白白、五萬五萬、六萬，就可以計算出：(10+10+1​0)+(10+10+10)+(10+10+10)+(5+5)+6=96點。而如果用倍數計算，就要根據自己胡牌嘅方式同埋對方打出咩牌而定。例如：如果自己摸到六萬胡​牌，就可以乘以四倍；如果對方打出六萬胡牌，就可以乘以二倍；如果對方打出字牌胡牌，就可以乘以八倍。
所以，如果自己摸到六萬胡 大三元小三元，就可以得到96x4=384點；如果對方打出六萬胡大三元，就可以得到96x2=192點；如果對方打出字牌胡大三元，就可以得到96x8=768點。
無論用邊種計分方法，大三元都係一個非常高分嘅牌型，可以令自己贏得好多錢或者籌碼。不過，要想成就大三元都唔容易，需要有好多耐心同埋觀察力，而且要識得揀牌同埋打牌。​如果有機會胡大三元，就一定要把握住，唔好錯過呢個難得嘅機會。
