Welcome to Sagelight Bokeh/Lens Blur!
Sagelight Bokeh & Lens Blur is a set of functions that includes high-quality, fast lens blur, bokeh, and depth of field functions.
What is Bokeh?
Bokeh also encapsulates what is known as a Lens Blur, or a “shaped blur” where you can select the aperature shape, such as a circle, hexagon, to name a few.
Bokeh, Lens Blur, and Depth of field are all part of the same process. Bokeh basically refers to the quality of the blur, specular reflections, and so-forth. Depth of Field and Lens Blur relates more to the type of blur and how the blur blends into the foreground and distance.
Bokeh/Lens Blur Quick Reference
Masking with Sagelight Bokeh & Lens Blur (and DOF)
Sagelight Bokeh/Lens Blur (and Fast Depth of Field) supports masking in two different ways. You can use a
generated mask by using the controls and interactively on the screen by dragging a radius map/reticle. This allows
you to quickly define a shape and create a wide array of incredible effects, from depth of field images, tilt-shift, or
dramatic focus on your subject.
You can also use a mask you create, which you can modity while you’re using the blur functions. This allows you to
interactively edit the mask while you’re chaning the Bokeh/:ens Blur settings for maximum control.
Advanced Technology
Sagelight Bokeh offers a number of advances on the idea of Bokeh to make it even more useful and compelling.
Highlight Masking, Fast Depth of Field, Interactive Masking, and real-time display are but a few examples.
About the Help for Bokeh/Lens Blur and Fast DOF in Sagelight
These functions were just released very recently, and the help is being written as a series of article on the Blog/Newsletter, after which they will be put in the regular Sagelight help.
As the articles are written, there will be an update to the help, as well, so you can always check the help on-line.
