Using the Mouse

The mouse can be used to guide how the blur is formed.

If you're editing the above image, for example, the initial display for Sagelight Bokeh shows the blur reticle for the image.  It defaults as a circle, but you can change it to many different shapes.  This is discussed in another section (TBD), and this section is about how to use the mouse.

Generally speaking, you can just grab the controls with the following mouse movements:

1. Blue Button. Grabbing a Blue Button will change the shape of the blur reticle based on the movement of the mouse (while the mouse button is down). The two buttons directly adjacent to the circle will not change, and the blur reticle is only changed in the direction of your change based on the button grabbed by the mouse.

Depending on the reticle shape (i.e. Circle/Ellipse, Rectangular, Planar, etc.), the angle will also change based on the mouse movement while the left button is held down.

2. Black Button.  Grabbing a smaller black button only changes the size of the reticle.  In some cases (such as a planar shape) it may also change the angle of the reticle as well.  In general, however, it only changes the radius of the circle/ellipse/rectangle.

3. Pressing the mouse elsewhere on the screen.  This will move the reticle to the center of the point clicked.  You can leave the mouse button down and move the reticle around in realtime.  note: when the radius of the reticle is very small, click enywhere else on the screen and then move quickly to where you want the center to be.  This allows you to move the reticle even when the radius is too small for the mouse to be clicked with in it without selecting a button.

Other Controls.

Left Mouse Button.  If you move the reticle with the left mouse button, it will only affect that area.  For example, if you grab the top button in the image above, it will change the reticle size and shape based on the mouse movement from the original location, but will not change the lower position.

Right Mouse Button.  If you move the reticle with the right mouse button, the reticle is changed in a symmetrical manner.  For example, if you grab the top button in the above image, the lower button will also move (in the opposite direction).  This allows you to size one axis of the reticle uniformly.

Control Key.  If you hold the control key down, this is the same as using the Right Mouse Button.

Shift Key.  Holding down the shift key prevents the angle from changing while you are moving the reticle.  This can be very useful when the reticle is small and it is harder to keep the reticle at the same angle.
